It is a fantastic place to seaport at Eastern Green, Penzance, where you can take a trip to The Isles of Scilly with British International Helicopters. nd a holiday with so much to see and do all close at hand. There are good transport links including the train station at Penzance and a good regular bus service to surrounding areas.
If you enjoy outdoor pursuits then you will be pleased to know that a section of the South West Coast Path runs along the coast at Marazion and the Cornish Way Cycle Path is very close by too. Marazion Marsh (RSPB) is a great place to see some of the local birdlife. It is also the largest reedbed in the county and keen bird watchers will understand the importance of reedbeds for certain breeds of bird. Aside from the swans and other more common birds, there are some quite rare species (Spotted Crakes and Bitterns) that visit from time to time. If you are interested in sea angling then speak to Wheal Rodney's resident expert - (Steve!).
Best of all, there is a lovely safe sandy beach with a spectacular view out to the fairytale castle of St Michael's Mount. |

The Town Hall in the centre of Marazion also houses the local Museum. The building was once the local gaol and visitors to the museum can view a reconstructed cell! The museum also houses other local historical artifacts and is a fascinating place to visit if you are interested in local history or are a regular visitor to Marazion. Within The Square is a house where Charles II is reputed to have stayed after making good his escape after his defeat at the Battle of Naseby. You should be able to find this house quite easily, not only because of the plaque on the wall but also because of the balls on the roof - said to deter witches! |
